Pharmacology Seminar Course Policies

II. ATTENDANCE POLICY

Attendance at seminar is required. Students are encouraged to ask questions at the end of the speakers talk. There will be a sign-in sheet at each department seminar, and it is the students responsibility to sign it.

Excused Absence Policy

If a student has a legitimate reason for missing a seminar (e.g. illness, family emergency, or a medical school interview), they should request an excused absence from either Dr. Katakam (Course Director) or Dr. Craig Clarkson (Director of Graduate Studies) as soon as possible. If an excused absence is granted, lack of participation will not negatively affect their grade. It is the student's responsibility to request & obtain the excused absence in a timely manner (e.g. within a few days of the missed seminar).

Honor Code Violation

It will be considered a violation of the department's student honor code for one student to sign in for another student who is absent.

III. CALCULATION OF COURSE GRADE

• The course grade will be determined from attendance at seminar.
• If a student misses more than 2 seminars without an excused absence, their grade will be negatively affected. For each seminar missed beyond this limit of 2 unexcused absences there will be a reduction in grade by one unit (e.g. for 3 unexcused absences a students grade will be reduced to an A-, and for 4 unexcused absences the grade will be reduced to a B+).
