Dr. Braun's research program is directed at the intersection of gene therapy, hematopoietic stem cells and the response of the immune system. His laboratory studies the therapeutic potential of gene therapy: for AIDS, for lysosomal storage diseases, for hematopoietic stems. Topics include tissue-specific expression of therapeutic genes and immunomodulatory effects of gene expression. This intersection has clinical relevance for multiple diseases and therapeutic modalities including gene therapy strategies, transplantation, immunotherapy and vaccine development.
