The Section of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition supports medical student and housestaff training through lectures, clinical experience, and gastroenterology electives.  We are involved with the Tulane Center of Abdominal Transplant and Tulane Endoscopy Center, and participate in the care and management of patients.

Ilana Fortgang, MD
Dr. Fortgang returned to Tulane School of Medicine in 2007.  She is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics and Chief of the Section of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition.  After finishing her residency at the Tulane, she completed a fellowship at Vanderbilt University.  She is board-certified in Pediatrics and specializes in Pediatric Gastroenterology. Her research is to define the specific role of tumor necrosis factor receptors (TNFRs) in neoplastic transformation associated with chronic inflammation.
