Endocrinology

Meera Ramayya, MD

The Section of Pediatric Endocrinology provides an excellent educational, research and clinical opportunities.  We have a special interest in the management of children with diabetes.  The section supports medical student and housestaff training through lectures, clinical experience, and endocrine electives.  The Section has an excellent support staff of trained diabetes nurse clinicians/educators, endocrine nurse clinician, nutritionist and office staff.  An NIH funded General Clinical Research Center is available for research endeavors.

Meera Ramayya, MD
Dr. Ramayya is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics and the Chief of the Section of Pediatric Endocrinology.  After finishing her residency at the University of South Florida, she completed fellowship at both the University of Washington and the NIH.  She is board-certified in both Pediatrics and Pediatric Endocrinology.  Her interests include endocrine-related cancers, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, pediatric endocrine disorders - adrenal disorders, thyroid disorders, growth disorders, pubertal disorders, and diabetes mellitus.  Her current research includes the role of nuclear receptor, Steroidogenic Factor-1 (SF-1) in ovarian surface epithelial cell-derived cancer.
