Emergency Medicine

Carla P. Alcid, MD

The Tulane Pediatric Emergency Room at Tulane Medical Center opened July 16, 2007.

Walking through the entrance on LaSalle Street brings you to a family-friendly center dedicated to children and adolescents. The facility is staffed round-the-clock by Tulane Pediatric Emergency Medicine physicians and Tulane pediatricians. Along with our Pediatric sub-specialists, pediatric nurses and ancillary care staff, the Tulane Peds ER brings in-depth skills and expertise to bear on the management of urgent and emergent pediatric problems. The quaternary-level PICU and pediatric in-patient facilities of Tulane Medical Center are immediately available for those children who require hospitalization.

The Tulane Peds ER is designed and equipped for infants, children and adolescents. The Tulane Child Life Department is creating murals and decorating the department in a "Neighborhoods of New Orleans" theme that should really appeal to kids and their parents. The Tulane Peds ER is adjacent to, but separate from, the adult emergency facility and kids enjoy a waiting area designed just for them.
