The section of Community Pediatrics and Global Health is the newest addition to the Department of Pediatrics family. Our section’s mission is to establish programs which address the challenges of domestic and global healthcare disparities through two divisions:

• Division of Community Pediatrics offers training opportunities in community health, domestic healthcare disparities, and pediatric advocacy.

• Division of Global Health serves to enrich the resident training through exposure to international clinical rotations and domestic immigrant healthcare.

We strive to achieve our mission through clinical services on two mobile units, didactics,  research, and fostering local and international partnerships.

Our enthusiastic staff is committed to excellent clinical services for the underserved and uninsured children in the Greater New Orleans area and to educating the next generation of community pediatrician and public health specialists. We are also involved in several research and public health projects related to obesity, depression, and healthcare disparities.
