Follicular hyperplasia is often seen in children as a reactive condition. Notice the multiple follicles, each with an active germinal center showing mitoses, apoptosis, and phagocytosis, surrounded by a well-defined mantle layer. A normal germinal center will show NO production of bcl-2, the anti-apoptotic protein. The follicles are separated by the interfollicular zones (T-cells). Compare this image with follicular lymphoma.
