Abnormal follicles showing no apoptosis or phagocytosis and reduced to no mitotic figures, and lacking a well-defined mantle layer, are found practically back-to-back with reduced intervening T-cell areas. These neoplastic germinal centers look rather frozen, compared to the activity going on in a normal germinal center. This is a low grade B-cell neoplasm, which does respond to chemotherapy, but has multiple recurrences.
