Vincent Pellegrini, MD

The 21st Annual Ray J. Haddad Memorial Lectureship and Resident Research Day was held on June 22-23, 2012.

The Haddad Visiting Professorship is presented annually in honor of Dr. Ray J. Haddad, Jr. Dr. Haddad was a native of Jackson, Mississippi. He received his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine and practiced orthopaedic surgery in New Orleans from 1963 to 1978, when he was appointed Chairman of Orthopaedics. Dr. Haddad served as Chairman until his death in 1990. Dr. Haddad was the Director of Sports Medicine at Tulane and he dedicated much of his career to the advancement of resident training and the Tulane orthopaedic program.

The 2012 Haddad Visiting Professor was Dr. Vincent D. Pellegrini from the University of Maryland Medical Center. He has served as the chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation at the Pennsylvania State University, College of Medicine, and the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, where he was also the C. McCollister Evarts Professor of Orthopaedics.

Dr. Pellegrini has published many articles, lectured at professional meetings nationally and internationally and is the recipient of numerous honors and awards. In addition to serving on the editorial review board and consultant to several journals, Dr. Pellegrini is currently the editor in chief of "Current Opinion in Orthopaedics" and a member of the board of associate editors for the "Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery."
