Residency Director’s Message

The distinctive character of the city of New Orleans gives Tulane’s ophthalmology residents ample opportunities to see and treat conditions rarely encountered in an urban setting as well as to make a difference as they train. Our affiliations with Charity Hospital and the Veterans Affairs facilities in New Orleans, Alexandria, and Biloxi provide a broad range of experience, opportunities, varied practice settings, and a diverse patient population.

Our diverse faculty holds in common a passion for teaching and mentoring. Along with academic and clinical training, our residents benefit from opportunities to undertake basic and clinical research in ophthalmology. Many publish their first papers as first authors here at Tulane.

Our program is small enough to allow residents to exceed experience expectations. Our faculty is experienced enough to have seemingly “seen it all.” Our setting is unique enough that our city’s vibrant, resilient spirit has been observed by the world.
