Dr. Simie Degefu is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology with Tulane University School of Medicine. He currently practices at Tulane Medical Center, Tulane's Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the Medical Centers of Louisiana at New Orleans. Dr. Degefu received his medical degree from Haile Selassie I University in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He completed his internship and residency at Chicago Lying Inn of the University of Chicago Hospitals and Clinics, and Ohio State University Hospital and Clinics respectively. He completed 2 years of clinical fellowship in gynecologic oncology at Ohio State University Hospitals and Clinics after completion of his residency in OB-Gyn. He has been with Tulane Medical Center and the Medical Centers of Louisiana since 1980, offering expertise in dealing with gynecologic cancers. Dr. Degefu is currently a co-investigator in clinical trials through The Gynecologic Oncology Group, offering his patients the advantage of both experience and the latest in treatment protocols. He is a member of the Southwest Gynecologic Oncologists Group and the Gynecologic Oncology Group. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
