Roeland van Opijnen graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a Degree in Chemistry. He went on to receive his Medical Degree from Tulane University School of Medicine and completed his residency in OB/GYN at Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans. He is currently as Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is gratified by teaching our future physicians, but also enjoys caring for his private patients in his clinical practice at the Tulane Center for Women's Health in Metairie, Louisiana. Dr. van Opijnen is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Obstetrics and Gynecologists. He is actively involved in improving patient safety through team training instruction. He is a skilled laparoscopist and is certified on the Intuitive DaVinci Surgical Robotic System. His interests include minimally invasive surgery and exploring alternatives to traditional hysterectomy.
