Neurology Residency Training

Applications & Interviews

An applicant must be a graduate of a medical school approved by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association, or have a permanent certification by the Qualification Board of the Educational Council for Foreign Medical Graduates, and they must be eligible to obtain a license to practice medicine in the State of Louisiana. A successfully completed postgraduate year is required for entrance.

The applicant may be invited for an interview. Final acceptance into the program is at the discretion of the Program Director and Chairman of the Department upon the recommendation of the residency selection committee.

REQUIREMENTS FOR TULANE NEUROLOGY RESIDENCY APPLICANTS:

1. All candidates should have passed all the USMLE steps including CS on the 1^st attempt
2. All U. S. medical school graduates with USMLE scores above 80 and IMGs with scores over 90 will be considered
3. Only IMGs with status in the U.S. will be considered. ECFMG certificate is not required to interview, but must be on file when time to rank candidates.(No visa sponsorship)
4. IMGs should have at least 1 year of clinical experience in the U.S. with 3 months of Neurology, and have supporting documents with at least one LOR from a supervising U.S. Neurologist. Good command of English language required
5. It is preferable to have no breach in continuity of medical career, but this can be considered on an individual basis if all other criteria are met and the candidate is exceptional.
6. We do not offer pre-match positions, observerships, or externships.
