Obstructive Sleep Apnea

Do you have sleep apnea?

There are 3 simple steps to evaluate your risk.

  1. Calculate your body mass index (BMI).

You can calculate your BMI by using the following website: http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/

  2. Neck Size MeasurementMeasure your neck size.

You can use a flexible tape to measure your neck circumference at the level just below your Adam's apple.

  3. Evaluate the risk with the STOP-BANG Questionnaire

    Stop-Bang STOP-Bang Questionnaire
Please answer "Yes" or "No" to the following questions:

    1. Do you snore loudly (louder than talking or loud enough to be heard through closed doors)?

    2. Do you often feel tired, fatigued, or sleepy during daytime?

    3. Has anyone observed you stop breathing during your sleep?

    4. Do you have or are you being treated for high blood pressure?

    5. Do you often feel tired, fatigued, or sleepy during daytime?

    6. BMI > 35 kg/m2?

    7. Age > 50 yr old?

    8. Neck circumference > 40 cm?

    9. Gender: Male?
