![]() Message from the Section ChiefWelcome to the Section of Pulmonary Diseases, Critical Care and Environmental Medicine. The Section provides state-of-the-art care to patients and teaching to trainees through several areas of academic excellence that include: Interstitial Lung Diseases; Asthma; Cystic Fibrosis; Sleep Disorders; Interventional Pulmonology; Lung Cancer; Smoking Cessation; Critical Care; and Environmental Medicine. The mission of the Tulane University School of Medicine is to create, communicate and apply knowledge aimed at promoting health and preventing and treating disease. This is accomplished through programs of academic excellence in education, research and practice conducted by a diverse body of faculty, staff and students working in the basic, animal, clinical and population sciences. We offer care to patients with asthma, cystic fibrosis, pulmonary fibrosis, interventional pulmonary, sleep disturbances, lung cancer, and both smoking and environmental diseases. Tulane University includes a medical school, residency and fellowship training programs. Tulane is also involved in clinical and laboratory research. Each year the Pulmonary Diseases and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program offers three positions, to qualified applicants, the opportunity to participate in basic or clinical research.
