Curriculum: The Clinical Setting
The renal conferences are attended by all fellows and faculty. Additional, the pediatric nephrologists attend and participate in weekly conferences. The section also partners with the Department of Pathology and the Hypertension Center of Excellence to provide fellows with alternating biweekly Biopsy and Research conferences.
Current nephrological literature (clinical and basic) is discussed in detail one to two times per month. Two to three times per month cases are presented.
Current research of laboratories and faculty.
Review of recent biopsies and case management directed by a renal pathologist and the nephrology staff.
In-depth presentations of major topics in nephrology, including pathophysiology and clinical issues. Guest speakers are invited. A case is presented once a month.
In place of the Tuesday Journal Club and Friday Grand Rounds, lectures are given to introduce the fellows to nephrology. Topics covered include dialysis, transplantation, pathology, and fluid and electrolyte disorders.
