Hospital Medicine

The Tulane Internal Medicine Hospitalist Service provides patient care and resident education within our three affiliated hospitals, Tulane Medical Center, Medical Center of Louisiana-New Orleans, and the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System.  Thirteen faculty members are academic hospitalists and are dedicated to providing excellent evidence-based patient care and education of our medical students and residents.  With a focus on systems-based quality improvement, the Tulane hospitalists have hold several academic and administrative appointments throughout the hospital system.  Areas of interest for the hospitalist group include quality-improvement curriculum development, transitions of care, resident education, and strengthen of collaborative relationships with our community partners.

                                           Tulane Medical Center

TMC is jointly owned by Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) and Tulane University and has 235 licensed beds.  TMC is a Southeastern regional tertiary referral medical center with critical care services, interventional cardiology and neurology, and cardiac and abdominal transplantation.  
 

            Medical Center of Louisiana- New Orleans

MCLNO, previously known as University Hospital, has 390 licensed beds and greater than 12,000 annual hospital admissions. MLCNO is the tertiary referral hospital for the nine hospital MCLNO system and Southeastern Louisiana’s only Level 1 Trauma Center.  In 2011, state and city officials broke ground for the new 424 bed University Medical Center expected to open in 2015.
 

              Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System                

The Southeast Veteran Hospital hospitalists care for veterans on the Veterans Inpatient Service with Tulane Medical Center, working in parallel to the Tulane Hospitalist Service.   Building has begun on a new medical center facility with 200 beds scheduled to open in 2014.
