The section of Endocrinology is proud to announce that Roberta McDuffie will serve as the new Bio Medical IRB chair starting April 1, 2012. Roberta McDuffie is a Clinical Nurse Specialist and holds a faculty appointment in our section. For more information about her, please visit her faculty page.

Section Achievements & Awards

  • Dr. Fonseca recently was awarded with the Banting Medal from the American Diabetes Association. The Banting Medal is for scientific achievement and is the highest scientific award given through the organization. It acknowledges significant and long term dedication to the understanding, treatment or prevention of diabetes.
  • The section of Endocrinology was recently selected by Tufts University to serve as a site location for the D2d study. The D2d study is investigating the use of vitamin D to prevent type II diabetes. The site will enroll approximately 150 pre-diabetic subjects.
  • The section of Endocrinology would like to welcome Dr. Hongju Wu, our newest faculty member,  Dr. Yanqing Zhang, our newest post doctoral fellow and Qiuying Sun, a visiting research scholar.

tour de cure

Our faculty members at the most recent Tour de Cure. Tour de Cure, is a series of fundraising cycling event dedicated to the American Diabetes Association. In 2011, more than 55,000 cyclists in 80 different events raised more than $ 18 million to support the mission of the ADA. For more information, visit their website.
