Preventive Medicine Residency Program

Tulane's Preventive Medicine Residency Program is a two (2) year program which is fully-accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). The program is designed to fulfill requirements leading to certification by the American Board of Preventive Medicine. Prior to entering the program, candidates must complete at least one (1) year (HO-1) in an ACGME accredited program, transitional program or primary care specialty such as internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, or general surgery.

The Preventive Medicine Residency Program, a unique program cosponsored by Tulane University's School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine and the School of Medicine, is designed to train residents for careers in academic, administrative and /or clinical preventive medicine/public health.

The program consists of academic work leading to a Master of Public Health degree and supervised practicum experience which fosters application of the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of preventive medicine and public health.
