Rosacea

Rosacea is a common skin problem, affecting anywhere from 2 to 10% of the population. The condition occurs most commonly in fair skinned individuals and can present with several different patterns. Rosacea can present as redness in the central face, as pimples or papules or even telangiectasisa or “broken blood vessels”. It can even present as severe acne like eruption. Rosacea can cause intense burning and stinging as well as marked skin sensitivity. Patients with rosacea can have associated eye findings such as itchy eyes, styes and red eyes.

Patients commonly complain of irritation and cannot use many soaps, cleansers or face products as a consequence. There are several treatments for Rosacea which include topical or systemic medicines as well as procedures such as laser.
