The DeBakey Scholars Program

Grading of Students

There will be two major components to a student's grade in the DeBakey Scholars Program.

1. Each student will receive a grade (Pass/Fail) at the end of each year based on their progress through the Program's Benchmarks and Expectations. The progress rubric is presented in the next slide.
2. Each student will receive a grade on their final product in year 4 of their medical school education, based on the Final Product Rubric below. The grade (Below Expectations, Meets Expectations, Exceeds Expectations) will be determined by their mentor, the Program Director, and a team of faculty reviewing their posters/presentations during the capstone session to be held at the Tulane University Health Sciences Research Days in the spring of the student's senior year.

Below Expectations:Student does not meet established benchmarks for each Year of Program.

Meets Expectations: Student meets established benchmarks for each year of Program.

Exceeds Expectations: Student markedly exceeds established benchmarks for each year of Program.
