Orthopaedic Pathways

The pre-clinical student is given an introduction to the basics of Orthopaedic Surgical Science including basic surgical skills, principles and opportunities for career development.

The course is a preceptorship with role-model orthopaedic surgeons to provide personalized instruction, teaching, and mentoring through experience in the operating room, clinic office, conferences, rounds and professional association.  Subspecialties include Foot and Ankle Surgery, Total Joint Surgery, and Sports Medicine.  This elective is split into 3 subspecialties.  You will spend 11 days on each rotation.  The pre-clinical student is given an introduction to the basics of Orthopaedic Surgical Science including basic surgical skills, principles and opportunities for career development.

Grading Policy: Pass/Fail. Evaluation will be based upon participation by students through oral communication with the faculty complimented by brief oral examination.
Enrollment: Elective is open to T1s and T2s. Up to 6 students will be accommodated.

Time of course: 7 hours / week (to be individually arranged)
