Course Overview
This year-long course is an integral part of the sophomore year and provides students with the opportunity to apply their knowledge of pathophysiology at the bedside and refine their skills in performance of the history and physical exam.
Course Goals and Objectives
- enhancement the student’s proficiency in the performance of a history and physical exam
- integration of the clinical information with the underlying pathophysiology
- application of clinical reasoning to develop a differential diagnosis
- incorporation of biostatistics and evidence-based medicine into clinical reasoning and review of the literature
- continuation of exposure to issues in medical ethics, professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and health-care delivery that were introduced during the first year courses
