By combining a core public health curriculum with coursework on the clinical, epidemiological, and control aspects of tropical diseases, this program prepares physicians and health professionals to assess tropical medicine from various perspectives; it also prepares the participants to evaluate and plan disease prevention and control programs.
Students entering the MSPH program in tropical medicine and parasitology continue further studies and training toward an advanced degree (MD, PhD, etc.) This program provides a sound background for students who would like to work for advanced degrees in parasitology or other public health-related programs in infectious diseases.
This program is designed for the individual interested in further investigations into tropical infectious disease related problems in academic, government and other organizations.
This program provides a structured curriculum with practical instruction in tropical medicine, including the pathophysiology, clinical features, diagnosis, treatment, and control of diseases prevalent in the tropics.
Tulane's MD/MPH combined degree program offers Tulane School of Medicine students a unique opportunity to build on their patient-based medical education with a population-based public health degree. The combined degree program is designed to be completed in four years, integrating the requirements for the School of Medicine with those from the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.
The Department of Tropical Medicine welcomes students to join us as Masters Internationalists. These students complete their MPH course work on campus, but they also gain vital public health experience through two years of service with the Peace Corps. The Peace Corps experience offers a number of personal and professional benefits to public health students, and it also fulfills the practicum requirement of the school.
The Combined Degree Program allows outstanding BSPH students to combine their undergraduate studies with a public health professional master's degrees at the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. Students may combine the BSPH with the MPH, MSPH, MHA or MPH&TM. The combined degree typically takes four semesters (including the summer semester) after completion of the BSPH degree. The combined degree program allows up to 12 graduate level credits to be completed while an undergraduate which saves approximately one semester.
