Tulane requires all full-time students to have health insurance and offers a plan for students without private coverage. Students enrolling in the fall are automatically charged as are those students who have not declined the insurance in a past semester. All other students, including new students enrolling for the spring semester must request insurance through the administrative office of the Student Health Center. Laboratory tests, radiological exams, and prescription drugs are covered as specified by the individual's insurance carrier.

For those students covered by the Tulane Student Medical Insurance Plan, refer to the insurance booklet for details. Louisiana state law requires that all students enrolled in higher education institutions be immunized by two doses of measles vaccine, one dose of mumps vaccine, one dose of rubella vaccine and a booster tetanus vaccine within the last ten years. Center for Wellness and Health Promotion
The Center for Wellness & Health Promotion, theWELL, promotes the health and safety of the Tulane Community through the delivery of inclusive, quality, public health practice. The center provides an array of different services and programs on campus to help students live healthy lives.

Mental Health Services
Three centers are available to students, faculty, and staff for mental health services, including counseling and crisis assistance and management:
- Counseling & Psychological Services
For 2012-2013, all mental health services will be delivered through a new unit called Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS). This is in effort to ensure that counseling and psychological services on Tulane's campus are easy to access and easy to navigate. This center will be focused on short-term care, which means that students requiring long-term or on-going care will likely be referred to service providers in the community. The CAPS staff and the Office of Student Resources & Support Services will help students negotiate this transition. CAPS will offer individual, group and couples therapy to current Tulane students. They will also have counselors available to address crisis issues during normal business hours. CAPS is located in the space formerly occupied by the Educational Resource & Counseling Center (first floor of the Science & Engineering Lab Complex) and can be reached via phone at 504-314-2277 (314-CAPS). CAPS has extended evening hours on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m-7 p.m. On Wednesday and Friday, CAPS will be open 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.

Tulane recognizes that a growing number of people with disabilities have joined the university community in recent years as students, faculty, and staff. Tulane's diverse student population includes well-qualified students with documented disabilities who may require learning, sight, hearing, manual, speech, or mobility accommodations to ensure fair access to educational and residential resources. These students are intelligent and capable, and have met the same rigorous standards for admissions as other students. To provide students with disabilities with every opportunity to explore educational opportunities and demonstrate their talents and intellect on a level playing field with their peers without disabilities, the university makes available reasonable accommodations in accordance with Section 504 of the federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
ODS works in partnership with students, faculty, and staff to develop successful strategies for maximizing students' academic achievement and participation in extracurricular activities and programs. Students who have disabilities who believe that they require reasonable accommodations must register with ODS as soon as possible and follow all ODS procedures for requesting accommodations. Because current clinical documentation is required before ODS can consider any requests for reasonable accommodation, newly matriculating students who have documented disabilities should contact ODS and submit all necessary forms and documentation at least a month before arriving on campus.
Students should be aware that they are responsible for making requests for reasonable accommodations and for submitting all necessary documentation in support of those requests. While ODS can help students articulate their needs, will engage with students in an interactive discussion about possible accommodations, and can assist students in communicating any approved accommodations to instructors or staff, students remain ultimately responsible for complying with ODS and university procedures and for ensuring that the university is aware of the need for accommodation in the first place.
