Seven SPHTM graduate students have been selected as Gates Millennium Scholars for the 2013-14 academic year. Tulane SPHTM is proud to recognize our scholars for their hard work and dedication. SPHTM recipients are:

  • Miracle Jade Coleman
  • Camille Nicole Hart
  • Florence Ada Kanu
  • Caroline Kusi
  • Nhu Ngoc Kieu Pham
  • Nubia Hohemi Pena
  • Sheng Yang

The scholarship program is specifically dedicated to increasing the representation of target groups in several academic disciplines including public health. Successful applicants demonstrate strong academic proficiency with a minimum grade point average of 3.3 together with leadership abilities revealed through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities. The program, which is administered through the United Negro College Fund (UNCF), supports unmet financial need for minority students with high academic and leadership promise.

These students join a cadre of SPHTM students who have been rewarded for their strong work ethic and commitment to public service. In addition to the Gates Millennium Scholarships, our students have received support and fellowships from the Louisiana Board of Regents, the Pat Tillman Foundation, the Fulbright Program, and many other agencies and organizations.
