Calendar of Events for 2015-2016

Bayou-Picture2webThe Peace Corps Programs Office engages in various social, cultural, and community service related activities around New Orleans throughout the Fall and Spring semesters. These events offer our students a unique opportunity to interact with the diverse and ever-changing New Orleans community. We encourage all Peace Corps Programs students to participate in as many events as they can throughout the semester, and friends are always welcome Contact for more information on any of the below events.            



  • 21st:  Peace Corps Virtual Screening Event with RPCV Kyle Wiggins - learn how he, along with a group of RPCV's used their Peace Corps service to become co-founder of the unique, Chile-based travel business,
  • 29th:  Monthly MI Meeting - RPCV Tulane Faculty Presentations


  • 3rd:  LPCA Happy Hour at the The Rusty Nail
  • 9th:  Internationalist submissions due
  • 28th:  Meet and Greet with the new NOLA Peace Corps Recruiter, Julie Crow at 11am at The Warehouse Grill, 869 Magazine St.  Our previous New Orleans recruiter, Cedar Wolf, will also be in town November 25th thru the 29th.  Anyone interested in speaking individually with him about PC may contact him at


  • 1st:  Monthly MI Meeting, Noon - Care package assembly and farewell celebration to departing MIs
  • 1st:  World AIDS Day, 5pm to 6:30pm - A speaker from Belle Reve, a local organization providing permanent and transitional housing along with full support services to adults and families living with AIDS or HIV-related illnesses will present, followed by a candlelight memorial walk through the CBD
  • 4th:  Adopt-a-Family - Shopping trip in the afternoon to purchase gift items.  Gift wrapping party later that evening!
  • 12th:  Peace Corps Holiday Party!  Join us for a potluck style Peace Corps Holiday Party.  All MIs and RPCVs are welcome!


  • TBA: Monthly MI Meeting
  • 14th:  Peace Corps "Country Speed Dating" - 5pm to 8pm - Cocktails, appetizers, and socializing, followed by a speed dating event.  We're partnering with the LPCA to provide MIs an opportunity to learn more about "the toughest job you'll ever love".


  • 2nd: Monthly MI Meeting
  • TBA: LPCA/MI/RPCV will march in Mardi Gras parade!
