A History of the HHH Program at Tulane
The Humphrey Fellowship Program was inaugurated at Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in 1979. Since that time, 295 mid-career professionals from 88 countries have participated in the Program taking training in many areas of public health, including health systems management, hospital administration, maternal and child health, tropical medicine, nutrition, environmental health, and epidemiology. In continuing a tradition of administering mid-career professional programs sponsored by the US government, Tulane University is responding to the needs of the developing world. In addition to individual coursework, research, and co-curricular activities, a series of seminars on topics of mutual interest to the participants is held in which Humphrey Fellows have the opportunity to share new perspectives with US colleagues and specialists in their disciplines.
