Programs and Degrees


MPH     Master of Public Health

The Master's of Public Health program prepares students for a broad range of careers in global public health, healthcare management, program implementation, evaluation and applied research, behavioral and social sciences and other career areas.  The program offers four concentrations:




     Master of Health Administration

Administratively, the MHA program falls under the Health Systems Management and Policy concentration; however, it has its own set of competencies and required coursework based on the accreditation requirements of the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME).  Although students in the MHA and MPH programs may share some classes, the programs are quite distinct.

      Doctor of Philosophy

The mission of the PhD program is to develop and train scholars and educators for future academic and research careers in health systems management and policy in global healthcare settings.

Joint Degree Programs

JD/MHA        Juris Doctor / Master of Health Administration is designed for students enrolled in the Tulane School of Law who seek health law careers.

MBA/MHA     Master of Business Administration/Master of Health Administration is designed for students accepted into the Tulane School of Business seeking careers in the health care industry that require management.

       Medical Doctor/Master of Public Health is designed  for students accepted into the Tulane School of Medicine who are interested in developing health care management and leadership skills to augment their public health knowledge.  More information can be found on the program's website.

MSW/MPH     Masters of Social Work/Master of Public Health is designed for students who wish to prepare for a career in social work as well as receive training in the methods and practice of public health.  Students in the joint MSW/MPH program will complete requirements for the International Health Programs concentration or the Medical Organization and Systems concentration.   More information can be found on the MSW/MPH website.

Humphrey Fellows Program

The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program brings accomplished professionals from designated countries of Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, and Eurasia to the United States at mid-points in their careers for a year of study and related practical professional experience.

China Public Health Summer Abroad Program

For advanced undergraduate and graduate students interested in earning four (4) credit hours towards a master's degree.  No Chinese language prerequisite.  Students from other universities are encouraged to apply.

Open to rising juniors and seniors enrolled at Tulane University. This is a 400-level service learning program approved by the Center for Public Service (CPS).
