Personal Statement:

Ann Anderson serves as a liaison with the health departments in four states to facilitate public health practice initiatives. In 1995, she developed the South Central Public Health Leadership Institute with the departments of health in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. She is currently developing an Advanced Institute in Crisis Leadership with the same states. She also directs the South Central Public Health Training Center, funded by HRSA, which began in 2000 and is ongoing. Partners in the training center are the four states' health departments and the University of Alabama, Birmingham, School of Public Health. The Preparedness Center is also directed by Anderson and is ongoing. Ann Anderson has also developed an executive MPH program with the University of Arkansas for medical sciences. The Tulane degree program began in Little Rock in the fall of 1995 and graduated its final students as Arkansas transitioned to its new College of Public Health. Anderson was responsible for the planning and development of an undergraduate program in public health (BSPH) at Tulane, which was approved by the Tulane Board of Administrators in 2003.
