Personal Statement:

 

My major interests are in the areas of child health (especially immigrant health and health care of children in Latin America), training of professional and non-professional (village level) health care and public health workers, evidence-based public health practice, and community health in a faith-based setting.


Relevant Work Experience:

My clinical work has centered for the most part in primary care pediatrics in community health center settings with the New Orleans Health Department and the Daughters of Charity Health Services of New Orleans through the LSU School of Medicine. This clinical work has been coupled to the training of pediatric residents. In Central America, I work for a faith-based non-profit conducting community health workers training. I previously worked as the medical director and surveillance epidemiologist  for the HIV AIDS Services Program with the Louisiana Office of Public Health.
