Welcome to the Fall 2012 Edition of the New Orleans Study Center newesletter! The National Children's Study held the Expanded Steering Committee meeting in mid-july at the NIH campus in BEthesda, MD.
 
This Meeting provided an opportunity for staff members from the Study Centers and NCS Program Office to share experiences from the field, discuss operations, and receive preliminary results from the recruitment pilot, know as the Vanguard Study.

Welcome to the first edition of the New Orleans Study Center newsletter

This first edition includes information and updates on our Study Center activities as well as information about the Study, children and maternal health, and the environment we hope you find useful. The National Children's Study just concluded a one-year pilot to test recruitment strategies, known as the Vanguard Study.

The Vanguard Study will evaluate the feasibility, acceptability and cost of three recruitment strategies, as well as Study operations. Results of the Vanguard Study will be used to design the Main Study and identify the best ways to recruit women and families to join the Study.
