GEHS 6230 - Fundamentals of Project Management for ES&H, 3 credits

Environmental, safety and health disciplines are integrated into projects and must be managed within the context of traditional project management principles, goals and techniques in order to achieve project success. Ensuring protection of workers, the public, and the environment is key to effective project performance. In this course we will review key elements of project management and discuss the integration of environmental, safety and health objectives and goals into the structure and processes of managing projects. In particular we will investigate how environmental, safety, industrial hygiene, and radiation safety disciplines can support project success through discussion of practical tools and experiences that help achieve an integrated approach to project planning, execution, and closure. During the course of the semester, students will analyze and share their work situation to help reinforce value added tools and approaches to achieving project success.
