Marie Krousel-Wood, MD, MSPH
Tulane BIRCWH Principal Investigator and Research Director
Professor of Medicine and Epidemiology
Dr. Krousel-Wood is a physician health services researcher who is actively engaged in cardiovascular research, a leading cause of death for women and men. Over the last 20 years, she has successfully led and administered research projects, collaborated with other investigators and healthcare providers in multiple disciplines, effectively mentored junior faculty, including previous and current BIRCWH scholars, and has over 90 publications including peer-reviewed articles, reports and book chapters. In addition to serving as the PI and research director for the NIH-funded BIRCWH program, she is the site PI and co-investigator, respectively, of two randomized trials funded by the NIH: Systolic Blood Pressure Intervention Trial (SPRINT) and the Comprehensive Approach for Hypertension Prevention and Control in Argentina.
