Program Leadership

Marie Krousel-Wood, MD, MSPH
Tulane BIRCWH Principal Investigator
Associate Provost for the Health Sciences
Associate Dean for Public Health and Medical Education
Professor of Medicine and Clinical Professor of Epidemiology
Dr. Krousel-Wood is a physician health services researcher who is actively engaged in cardiovascular research, a leading cause of death for women. Over the last 20 years, she has successfully administered research projects, collaborated with other investigators and healthcare providers in multiple disciplines, effectively mentored junior faculty, including previous and current BIRCWH scholars, and published over 70 peer-reviewed articles, reports and book chapters. Through her interdisciplinary research collaborations, she has identified gender-specific and other determinants for CVD and barriers to effective interventions which will be instrumental in tailoring interventions to prevent and reduce CVD in women across the lifespan.
Larry Webber, PhD
Director, Tulane BIRCWH Women’s Resource Laboratory
Professor of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics
Dr. Webber is a professor of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics whose research interests include measurement, cardiovascular epidemiology and longitudinal analysis. He led a multi-site, multi-component intervention trial to increase physical activity among adolescent girls as well as a R01-level intervention trial to reduce obesity among primarily women school teachers and administrators. He has been involved as an investigator in interdisciplinary medical research throughout his career and has worked extensively with Dr. Krousel-Wood on her cohort study of medication adherence in older adults with hypertension. Dr. Webber's experience in interdisciplinary research and his demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively make him an invaluable asset to the Tulane BIRCWH program via the Women's Health Resource Laboratory. His statistical knowledge and communication skills enable him to provide key technical advice and direction to program participants.

Kathryn Trimble, MPH
Tulane BIRCWH Senior Program Coordinator
Kathryn Trimble serves as the primary liaison between the BIRCWH Scholars, the faculty mentors, and the Principal Investigator. She is responsible for the coordination of all program-related day to day activities, the Scholar recruitment and application process, and all program evaluation activities. She also contributes to the preparation of study protocols, monitoring the completion of Responsible Conduct in Research Training, and assisting Scholars with research project coordination activities.
