Tom Farley

Former GCHB Chair and alumnus Tom Farley appointed for Commissioner of the Philadelphia Department of Health

Philadelphia's Mayor Kenney’s administration keeps growing. The latest to join the team is Thomas A. Farley, who was appointed Commissioner of the Philadelphia Department of Health. Prior to this position, Farley served New York City's health commissioner, as chief executive officer of the nonprofit The Public Good Projects, and as chair of the Department of Community Health Sciences at the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. He also served at the Centers for Disease Control's Epidemic Intelligence Service earlier in his career.

David Gaus  

Ecuador earthquake puts Wisconsin doctor's hospitals on front lines

David Gaus (MPHTM, 1992) went to medical school at Tulane University in New Orleans. He specialized in family medicine and received a master's in public health and tropical medicine. A family practice physician who lived in Ecuador for 15 years, Gaus founded the private nonprofit Andean Health & Development project to improve rural health care in Ecuador by providing high quality medical care and training.

Student Short-Term Mentoring

Sue Griffey (Program Leader/Mentor Coordinator, Short-term Mentoring Program for Tulane SPHTM Students/Alums) and Margie Cartwright, career services director, had lunch with two of the student mentees in the 2016 (Feb-May) Short-Term Mentoring Program when Sue was in NOLA for the SPHTM Alumni Association Board of Directors' meeting.
