Construction has begun on Zimple House with the start of test pile driving over Winter Break. Zimple House will be the third residence hall following the residential college model with Wall Residential College and Weatherhead Hall preceding it. Zimple House is anticipated to open in time for Move-In of the Fall 2014 semester.

At a ceremony on December 12, 2012, Benenson Plaza was dedicated as the third phase of the Newcomb-McAlister Unified Green master plan, following McAlister Place and the Gorson Gathering Gardens at the LBC Quad. The beautification project was made possible with a generous donation by the Benenson Family who previously supported the McAlister Place project as well as the Gibson Circle Monument sign and pylon entries.

Tree Campus USA

The Arbor Day Foundation has recognized the Tulane University Uptown Campus again this year as a Tree Campus USA. The campus has been recognized each year since 2009.

Tulane Featured In Guide Of Green Colleges

Tulane is featured in "The Princeton Review's Guide to 322 Green Colleges," a publication produced in conjunction with the Center for Green Schools. The feature highlights the efforts of the Tulane Green Machine, the integration of environmental issues in academic programs and the efforts of the School of Architecture. (Link)

The Tulane Green Machine Recieves Sustainability Award

The Tulane Green Machine, consisting of members from several divisions of Tulane with the common goal of greening campus buildings, was awarded a Sustainability Leadership Award of Operational Excellence by the Louisiana Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council. The award recognizes teams of people who work to promote green practices in both the construction and operation of buildings in Louisiana.

More Bike Racks Installed

With a generous donor's backing, Tulane has in one year increased campus bike rack counts by 10%. Total campus capacity is now 2,600 bikes. Demand for bicycle parking continues to rise as the university grows and bicycling to work and school becomes increasingly popular.
