New employees must complete training in the area of health and safety applicable to Tulane University. Also, all employees with potential occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens or other potentially infectious material are required to receive training during new employee orientation. This training is mandated by OSHA in the Bloodborne Pathogens Standard (29 CFR 1910.1030) which was designed as a safety measure for workers at risk of occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens. In compliance with federal regulations, this training is required initially upon employment and annually if you continue to work in an at-risk position.
