New employees must complete training in the area of health and safety applicable to Tulane University. This may be accomplished either by attending one of the New Employee Orientation Sessions conducted by Workforce Management Organization (WFMO) or by completing the on-line training module, New Employee Environmental Health and Safety Orientation (weblink: New Employee Orientation Presentation).
Also, all employees with potential occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens or other potentially infectious material are required to receive training during new employee orientation. This training is mandated by OSHA in the Bloodborne Pathogens Standard (29 CFR 1910.1030) which was designed as a safety measure for workers at risk of occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens. In compliance with federal regulations, this training is required initially upon employment and annually if you continue to work in an at-risk position. Click Bloodborne Pathogens for online training. (weblink: Bloodborne Pathogens Program) or classroom training can be provided by OEHS upon request. Contact the Tulane OEHS at (504)988-5486 to schedule a class time. If you have any specific questions regarding this training or any other elements of the Bloodborne Pathogens Standard, then please contact Kellie Mayer at 504-419-1391 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org
