On Wednesday, November 15th at 11:00am Dr. Laura Rosanne Adderley (Associate Professor of History at Tulane) will lead a discussion on the public history of slavery in the United States and what Louisiana’s history means for our experiences today.

On Saturday, November 18th Dr. Adderley will accompany Greenbaum residents on a tour of the Whitney Plantation…but there are limited number of seats so RSVP NOW if you are interested! There is no cost to you to attend these programs! Refreshments during the Fireside Chat, transportation, tickets for the museum tour, and box lunch will be generously provided by the Office of Housing and Residence Life and the Center for Public Service.

Across the Gulf South, former plantation homes are common tourist destinations and wedding venues. Perhaps when visiting one of these locations you wondered about the history of the enslaved people that lived in there? In 2014, the Whitney Plantation (http://whitneyplantation.com/) opened its doors to the public for the first time in its 262 year history as the only plantation museum in Louisiana with a focus on slavery.

The bus will leave for Whitney plantation at 11am on Saturday, November 18! It is first come first serve, so sign up early!
