Title: “Women Taking Their Place in Legislatures”

Bio: Anna Mitchell Mahoney earned a Ph.D. in Political Science from Rutgers University. She joined the Newcomb College Institute as an Administrative Assistant Professor of Women’s Political Leadership in August 2014 and became Director of Research for the Institute in 2016. Anna’s research is centered on women’s representation and gendered institutions, which is explored in her dissertation on the origins of women’s caucuses in state legislatures. Anna received an American Association of University Women Dissertation Fellowship in 2011-2012 in support of her work. Anna is a member of several community organizations, including the American Association of University Women and the League of Women’s Voters, and was named in 2016 to the Louisiana Women's Policy & Research Commission.
