WHAT    Higher education leaders to make an important announcement regarding the fall election for Orleans Parish School Board and its importance to the future of education reform in New Orleans.

MORE:    While most of the attention is focused on the Nov. 6 presidential election, New Orleanians will also elect a new school board this fall. Much will be at stake as the new board will not only select a new superintendent but will also set the tone for how the district – which is comprised of state-run charter schools and a smaller number of locally controlled schools – evolves within the state’s framework of post-Katrina education reform. It is vital to have a board fully committed to quality, high-performing public schools that benefit all of the children of New Orleans.
