Green Wave alumni from all years past will return to New Orleans Oct. 26-28, as Tulane University kicks off “Wave ’07,” its first-ever All-Alumni Reunion weekend. A number of special events are planned around the homecoming football game, which pits the Green Wave against Memphis University at the Superdome on Oct. 27 at 2 p.m.
First up for Wave ’07 activities are projects coordinated through the Tulane Center for Public Service. Alumni volunteers will help clean up and beautify school grounds at Sophie B. Wright and Benjamin Banneker schools. Later, they will regroup for the Wave ’07 Reunion Party at the Lavin-Bernick Center on the Tulane campus. This party includes New Orleans food, fireworks, and music by Marlon Jordan featuring Stephanie Jordan and Delfeayo Marsalis. Alumni and guests can view photo collages along “Memory Lane” and have their photos taken with RipTide, the Tulane mascot.
On Saturday the Wave will roll into the Superdome for the football game against Memphis. From 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. they’ll enjoy music, food and fun at the tailgating party in Homecoming Village. While 10-year and 25-year graduates gather in their own designated tents, all other alumni are invited to the special Reunion Tent on the plaza level.
After the game, Wave ’07 will flow on down to the French Quarter for “Paint the Quarter Green: An Evening in the Vieux Carre.” A number of shops, restaurants and bars will offer special promotions, while employee buttons and building banners welcome Green Wave fans for early evening festivities that will commence in the Voodoo Garden at the House of Blues, then spread out for more fun and merriment.
All Tulane alumni are invited to participate in Wave ‘07 activities. More information is available on the website at http://reunions.tulane.edu or by calling 1-888-265-7576.
