WHO: Louisiana Commissioner of Higher Education Joseph Savoie and senior leadership from New Orleans-area universities, including Scott Cowen, president of Tulane University; Norman C. Francis, president of Xavier University; Timothy P. Ryan, chancellor of the University of New Orleans and the Rev. Kevin W. Wildes, president of Loyola University.

WHAT: Louisiana Commissioner of Higher Education Joseph Savoie will present millions of dollars in matching funds from the Louisiana Board of Regents to various universities, including Tulane University, which will receive $1.64 million for two endowed chairs and 11 endowed professorships. The money is part of $15.9 million in matching funds the Board of Regents is distributing to public and private colleges and universities across the state.

MORE: Funding for the Board of Regents Endowed Chair and Professorship Program is generated from a permanent trust fund that was approved by voters in 1986; the original principal was part of a settlement between the state and federal governments over disputed off-shore oil and gas royalties.
