Tulane University has received a $2 million bequest from the estate of Milton I. Rosenson, a devoted alumnus, who earned a bachelor of business administration degree in 1944 and a law degree in 1948 from Tulane. Rosenson, a private investor, died in River Ridge, Louisiana on November 23, 2005.

Approximately $1.2 million of Rosenson's bequest will be used for the Milton I. Rosenson Fellowship in Business, which will support fellowships for Ph.D. students in the A.B. Freeman School of Business. Approximately $800,000 of the bequest will go to the Tulane Law School Library to purchase books, journals, software and other educational material. Tulane has established two endowments in Rosenson's name with this bequest.

"We are extremely grateful to Milton I. Rosenson and his family and friends. His generosity will benefit business and law students for generations to come. This is a fitting legacy for Mr. Rosenson and his family," Tulane University President Scott Cowen said.

Both Tulane's business school and law school are consistently ranked among the top 50 in the nation. Angelo DeNisi, dean of Tulane's A.B. Freeman School of Business, said support such as the Rosenson endowment is important in maintaining the school's competitive edge.

"We feel that we are one of the top destinations in the country and, indeed, the world for graduate business education." DeNisi said. "An endowment like this strengthens our position in the competitive world of student recruitment."

Tulane law school dean Lawrence Ponoroff said the endowment addresses a critical function of the school. "A well-maintained law library is one of the central components of a quality legal education," Ponoroff said. "It is also one of the most expensive and demanding components. The income from this gift will have a long-lasting impact on legal education at Tulane."
