What: Local biotech development and economic growth leaders report on recent activities and next steps in growing a regional bioscience industry.

Caitlin Cain, Economic Development Program Manager, Regional Planning Commission Stacy Head, Council Member District B Arnie Fielkow, Council Member at Large and Council Vice President

Why: New Orleans leaders in biotechnology, economic development, business, and government recently visited St. Louis, MO, to study the city's approach to developing the biosciences industry. Similarities between St. Louis and New Orleans drew the team to the city.

The collaborative effort in identifying a model of growth for New Orleans demonstrates local commitment to building infrastructure, attracting venture capital, strengthening partnerships between research institutions and nurturing entrepreneurial bioscience efforts.
