Tulane Celebrates Grand Opening of the Lavin-Bernick Center for University Life

WHAT: Grand opening of the new Lavin-Bernick Center for University Life, which has been under construction for more than three years. The community is invited to explore the LBC's new Tulane bookstore, retail outlets and services, and enjoy a weeklong series of celebratory events including a second line, food sampling, appearances by the Wild Tchoupitoulas Mardi Gras Indians and artist demonstrations. There will be daily musical performances by groups such as the Radiators, Soul Rebels, Shades of Praise Gospel Choir, Irvin Mayfield, Hot Rod Lincoln, Savoy Family Band and Tulane's own a cappella student groups, Green Envy and Them. This grand opening coincides with the Martin Luther King Week for Peace and the first week of classes for the 2007 Spring semester at Tulane.
