Stephen H. Weiss Elected to the Board of Tulane

Stephen H. Weiss was recently elected to the Board of Tulane University, the university's main governing body. Weiss is a managing director and senior portfolio manager of the investment firm of Neuberger Berman, LLC, a Lehman Brothers Company. He co-founded Weiss, Peck & Greer in 1970 and served as CEO until 2001.

Previously, Weiss served 11 years with A.G. Becker & Company, Inc. In September 1998, Weiss, Peck & Greer was purchased by the Robeco Group, one of Europe's leading investment houses. Weiss earned his bachelor's degree from Cornell University in 1957 and is now chairman emeritus of the Cornell Board of Trustees. He was a board-elected trustee from 1973 until 1997. He was chairman of the Board of Trustees (1989-97) as well as a member and first chairman of the Board of Overseers of the Cornell University Medical College and Graduate School of Medical Sciences.

Since 1978 Weiss has served on the search committees formed to select the past four presidents of Cornell. Weiss also served as a past member of the Citizens Budget Commission of New York City, and is a trustee emeritus of the Citizens Committee for New York City and the National Humanities Center. He is vice chairman of the Centurion Foundation and serves on the board and is vice chairman of the Teagle Foundation.

He is an honorary police commissioner of New York City. He also serves as a member of the Board of Visitors of the School of Medicine, University of California, Davis and is a member of the AACU's National Leadership Council for Liberal Education. Weiss is the president of The Stephen and Suzanne Weiss Foundation, Inc., which he and his wife established in 1986.

They have four children and live in Greenwich, Connecticut. Their son Jonathan Scott "Jonny" Weiss is a sophomore at Tulane and a member of the Green Wave baseball team.
