Tulane University will receive $3.2 million in matching funds from the Louisiana Board of Regents for Higher Education in a special ceremony September 29 at 10:00 A.M. at 1901 Perdido St, room B, second floor of the Medical Education Building of the LSU Health Sciences Center.

The original private donations from donors, with the matching funds provided by the state, will finance three endowed chairs and thirty endowed professorships at Tulane. Funding for the Board of Regents Endowed Chair and Professorship Program is generated from a permanent trust fund that was approved by voters in 1986; the original principal was part of a settlement between the state and federal governments over disputed off-shore oil and gas royalties.

Commissioner of Higher Education Joseph Savoie is making campus visits across the state to present matching funds checks to various universities. Institutions participating in the September ceremony include: Tulane University, Xavier University, Loyola University, Our Lady of Holy Cross College, LSU and University of New Orleans.
