University College, the division of continuing education at Tulane University, will be renamed the "School of Continuing Studies" effective July 1, 2006. The name change signifies a refocus of the University College mission in light of the recent Renewal Plan announced by Tulane University: http://renewal.tulane.edu

Part-time students currently enrolled in University College will see no significant changes to curricula, course offerings, tuition rates or administrative procedures. Changes to University College will, however, impact full-time students.

After Sept. 2006, the School of Continuing Studies will no longer admit full-time students. Beginning in Fall 2007, all full-time undergraduates, regardless of major, will be admitted to the Undergraduate College. One degree program, Exercise and Sports Sciences, will be discontinued. Students currently enrolled in this program will have the next 18 months to complete all coursework requirements.

The School of Continuing Studies will not be an administrative part of the Undergraduate College and will maintain its current autonomy within Tulane University. Students will benefit from policies of open admission, flexible course schedules up to 13 credits per semester, and enrollment in cross-listed courses provided by Tulane's Undergraduate College.
