Brain, Bioethics Are Topics of Lecture

"Bioethics on the Brain" will be the focus of a free, public lecture in honor of the late Rev. Prim Smith who was chaplain of the Tulane University Health Sciences Center. The lecture on Wednesday, April 27 at noon will be held in the J. Bennett Johnston Health and Environmental Research Building, 1324 Tulane Ave.

The inaugural Rev. Prim Smith Lecture will be given by Robert Martensen, a professor of surgery at the Tulane University Health Sciences Center, who holds the James A. Knight MD Chair of Humanities and Ethics in Medicine. Martensen is author of a book, The Brain Takes Shape (Oxford University Press, 2004), about what makes a living human body a person.

The Rev. Prim Smith Lectureship Series in Medical Ethics is hosted by the Tulane University School of Medicine. Light refreshments will be served at 11:30 a.m. To reserve a seat at the lecture, call 504.988.5246.
