New Orleans, LA - Shed your winter blues and celebrate spring at the 2nd Annual Barbecue Bash to benefit the Tulane University Health Sciences Center's Adolescent Drop-In Center. Scheduled for Sunday, April 17 from 1 to 4 p.m. at 1015 S. Carrollton Ave., the event features mouth-watering smoked-pit barbecue, music by "Whistlestop" and a silent auction.

Tickets are $35 and include unlimited food and drink. The Adolescent Drop-In Center is a service of the New Orleans Health Department's Healthcare for the Homeless Program, the Louisiana Office of Public Health Departments of HIV/AIDS and Family Planning, Tulane University Health Sciences Center Section of Adolescent Medicine and UNITY for the Homeless.

"Although the Adolescent Drop-In Center is funded by federal, state and local grants, private funds are necessary to complete capital improvements and provide supplies for the youth - such as medication, bus tokens and hygiene kits," says executive director Edward Bonin.

All proceeds raised by the Barbecue Bash will benefit the Adolescent Drop-In Center's programs and services. The center provides homeless adolescents and adolescents at risk for homelessness with primary health care and assistance in securing jobs and locating shelter.
